Answering the Call with Laura Frantz

There are few historical authors whose books draw me into an amazing world as well as Laura Frantz. She's the perfect package of poet, storyteller, character builder, and plot weaver. Not only that, she's an amazing individual (writing aside). Her gentle personality and quick encouragement makes her a favorite of a lot of people.

So, what was her 'Call" story like?

Let's find out:

It was November, 27, 2007. We were out celebrating my son Wyatt's 10th birthday and had just come home. I hit the answering machine button and heard, "Hello, Laura, this is Andrea Doering, executive editor with Revell Books, and I'd like to talk to you about Dogwood Winter (aka The Frontiersman's Daughter)... Well! Needless to say, I couldn't eat any of my son's birthday cake! I felt a little bit sick and excited and full of dread the rest of the night, unsure of where it would all end. But you know the rest of the storySmile emoticon.

Laura, my youngest daughter's birthday is Nov 27th too. GREAT day!

Can't wait to discover more from your masterful pen :-)

  1. Pepper, Oh, it's so fun to remember that day! And learn that it's also your youngest daughter's bday, too! Can't believe it's been 5 years since the call and now my Wyatt is nearly 16. Sigh. But what a 5 years it's been!

Great series idea, dear friend. I can't wait to hear about other's calls here. Beautiful blog updo, by the way:) And thank you for your gracious words about me and my books...

  3. Laura!

Started Courting Morrow Little the other day. Slow going as I'm working on my own stuff too but enjoying it so far! Three chapters in and all... ;)

So fun to hear your story!

  4. Pepper, I feel the same way:) Will NEVER forget your kindness in sharing that beautiful wrap. It made me feel so special/lovely!

Carol, It means a whole bunch to me to know you're taking time for Morrow. It heats up pretty quick. Praying for your writing. Yours too, Pepp:) Love you both.

  5. It was such an honor, Laura!

And Carol, you're gonna LOVE Courting Morrow. It's my favorite Laura Frantz classic so far (although they are all beautiful)
